Who was I kidding?....Of course i would cry..... I cried A LOT.....i couldn't help it.....it was so sad.....
The microphone was passed around the congregation so if anyone had anything to say, they were free to do so...It started off with Brother Chew's wife and she read out a letter she found among his possessions which she wrote to him 10 years ago - it was the first time he had to go off on business since their marridge. In it she wrote how much she missed him and how unnatural it felt without him there.....
Then the was passed to his two children. The youngest went first. She thanked her daddy for buying her dolls, and for playing with her.....Then it was the son's turn. Being a bit older, he understood that he wouldn't be seeing his daddy anymore and was crying as well.....He thanked his daddy for buying him a basketball, and for sending him to school and picking him up, and asked his daddy to say hi to Jesus for him....
Then it was Brother Chew's brother's turn.... Since Bro. Chew was the only christian in his family, the rest of his family had only been to church a few times before.....His brother could hardly speak - his voice was shaking so hard and he was crying non-stop. He mostly shared childhood memories, and his feelings now that his little brother is no longer here....One of the things he said really stuck with me.... "In '97 we came to church to attend his wedding......In 2008 we came to church to attend his funeral."
HOW SAD IS THAT???
And so the mic was passed around....every few passes someone said a few words...mostly memories and how they met Bro. Chew and how long they knew him...a lot of people directed their words to Bro. Chew's family, hoping they accept Jesus as their saviour and one day meet their beloved son/brother again...
It was a very sad night....lots of tears..... I just hope there won't be another one anytime soon.....
