give your all

We've all heard the story where God tests Abraham:
God asked Abraham to sacrifice his one and only son to see if there was anything in his life that he treasured more than God. After all, Abraham's son was given to him by God, if God wants to take the boy back, Abraham ought to give his all to please God. (Genesis 22:1-12)
It's the same with us. Although God may not ask us to sacrifice (as in kill) the ones we love for Him anymore, He still expects us to give our all in different ways.
He may ask us to give up our natural instincts to seek revenge so that we may communicate His forgiving love by forgiving our enemies.
He may call us to sacrifice portions of our time or money or comforts to advance His cause.
Imagine inviting special friends over for dinner and just throwing a bunch of leftovers into the microwave. You can imagine how offended they would be.
It's the same with God. Whether we give Him the leftovers in our life or give Him our very best. The way we respond to what He requires echos how we really feel about Him.
Remember, He gave His one and only son for us. How could we make a lesser sacrifice?
No sacrifice we make is too great for the One who sacrificed His all.
